Economic terrorism

Notes from Somewhere--today from Madison, WI
20110723

I am sorely vexed by the political self indulgence of those we have elected to office.

Where will the  taxes come from, who are the “taxpayers” they are trying to “protect?'

The very wealthy, who avoid paying taxes through legal contortions?

The earning class, who are earning less and less because of downsizing, job cuts, chronic unemployment?

Certainly not the dependent class, who are primarily “consumers” of tax income.

And where in the budget are provisions for recovery from the incredible disasters we are seeing all around:  floods, tornados, wildfires, heatwaves, nuclear power vicissitudes...the list goes on.  How are the monetarily challenged supposed to pay their electric bills as ComEd, etc pass the repair costs on to the consumers?  Remember the cuts to the LIHEAP budget?

It's summer recess time.  The vultures are coming home to roost. What will we say to them?

Happy Tuesday!

Just met with the Gateway Coalition board to talk about what's going to happen when I move to Madison in a couple months.  Some knotty problems need to be unraveled.

Meanwhile, wrapping up things in Kankakee is going to take a lot of time--just going through old papers and files to downsize into what will be much smaller quarters.

This weekend I've got an appointment to look as apartments; hope something just right turns up.

Good Morning from Somewhere

Good Morning, World!  I hope everyone is enjoying the blessings we are given today.

This blog will be mainly a statement of what I think are important things to think about.
